Startup Weekend is about doing – pitching, creating, ideating, making, doing. Not a classroom or a seminar, it is a weekend experience in which your goal is TO DO. It can be very messy as starting a business is not easy and you won’t do everything right the first time. You need passion and confidence to get past the problems and pitfalls. I’m thinking about printing these quotes on index cards and hanging them around the USI Business building during the weekend.
Overheard on This American Life : “It’s okay to make mistakes, as long as they are new ones.”
Headline in the NYT Magazine : “Be wrong as fast as you can.”
Kevin Rose, Digg : “If you believe in something, work nights and weekends, it won’t feel like work.”
Todd Garland, BuySellAds : “Openly share and talk to people about your idea. Use their ..doubt as motivation..”
Bob Parsons, GoDaddy : “When you are ready to quit, you are closer than you think”
Kyle Bragger, Forrst : “If you are building a product, you can’t be afraid of hearing criticism about it”
Eric Reis, Startup Lessons Learned : “The lean startup method is not about cost, it is about speed.”
